Get a taste of what’s in store in Dead Island: Riptide in this 10 minute game-play preview

Fans of Dead Island will be happy to see that it looks like the sequel has been largely unchanged, and is more of a tweaking job for the follow up “Dead Island: Riptide”  In this preview video, we see the the player first trying to scout some weapons from around the island to defend the safe-house  and then the following mission which is to hold off a few waves of zombie attacks while water is being pumped out of an underground tunnel system…..

Dead Island: Riptide’s trailer explodes onto the internet…

Remember the first trailer for the original Dead Island? Highly emotional stuff…it sparked quite the discussion.  Well, here comes the first trailer for Deep Silver’s follow up Dead Island: Riptide.

Furious monsoon rainstorms have laid waste to the island of Palanai in the Banoi archipelago, waters have risen and caused a flood disaster — because of this and the raging zombie invasion, a rescue mission for the survivors seems to be without prospect of success. All hope seems to have been lost for the surviving humans…

Dead Island:Riptide is planned for a 2013 release!

Did “Jason Voorhees” move to Dead Island? Let this Easter egg video be your answer!

One of the coolest thing about the horror genre is the sense of community and comradeship between different artists and creators. Apparently the makers of Dead Island are no different, and snuck in this cool Easter egg into the game which appears to be a replica of Jason Voorhees, including his home and for your troubles of tracking this all down, a brand new shiny chainsaw to mow down zombies with.  Check out the video of how to find him, kill him, and get the chainsaw below:

Time to go hunting for a chainsaw!

Dead Island coming to the big screen?

It looks like Lionsgate has picked up the rights that will allow the zombies of Dead Island take another bite out of consumers in the form of a feature-length film…FirstShowing reports the following:

“In a press release, Lionsgate has announced their option of the film rights to Dead Island, the best-selling video game for XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Centering on an island where vacationers become terrorized by a quickly spreading zombie outbreak, the film hopes to capitalize on the hype surrounding the teaser trailer for the game from last year.”

What do you guys think?  Is the time right for another zombie movie?  With World War Z on the way as well, it looks like we could have another helping of brains coming out way in 2012.  Let’s take a peak at the Dead Island announcement trailer once more below, and contemplate what it would look like with real actors/actresses in it.  Would that trailer have you excited for a potential movie?
